Donor Benefits

The benefits of donating to UCAN.

UCAN donors feel a strong sense of satisfaction in seeing their very own local consumer group in the news fighting on their behalf.

1 Hands-on help and intervention: In the event of a dispute with SDG&E, your water company, phone company, Internet Service Provider, or cable TV company, UCAN’s staff can provide hands-on help and dispute resolution.  Over the years our intervention efforts have returned hundreds of thousands of dollars in wrongful or disputed charges to San Diego consumers. In some cases we are able to help members who live outside of San Diego and Southern orange County.

2 Priority access to UCAN's Fraud Squad:  UCAN's Public Advocates have saved individual donors tens of thousands of dollars in questionable or wrongful utility charges made by cellular companies, phone companies, and SDG&E (see introductory video). Do you have a complaint? Have you been treated badly or defrauded by a company doing business in California?  As a donor, your consumer complaints go straight to front of the line. Often, we can offer help or a referral even if the complaint is not utility-related.

3 Personal Satisfaction:  As a donor, you are supporting the only utility watchdog group of its kind in San Diego County. More importantly, you are funding the livelihoods of the UCAN Advocates who are aggressively representing your rights in regulatory court, corporate boardrooms and in the halls of justice and power.

5 Your contribution is tax deductible:  UCAN is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit.  Donations to UCAN are tax-deductible under IRS guidelines.
