Changes to Universal Lifeline Telephone Service

Every year, California LifeLine customers, formerly Universal Lifeline, must show the Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) that they are eligible to remain on the program. This recertification process used to be done by the telephone companies, but as of July 2006 that task was assigned to a third-party company hired by the CPUC. As a result of this change, the new name was not recognized by customers. Hundreds of persons alleged they never received the form and others alleged they did return it in a timely manner and were also disqualified. This only seems fair to me,

This only seems fair to me, people deserve better services and this is the right thing to do and I suppose answering services will also get influenced in a good way by this. I just hope other sectors are brave enough to approach this method to.

Jane Bond Here.
I get my phone service through a bundled service with Cox Cable. Good deal. However the fees I pay for lifeline (and all other fees) are just another way for phone companies to make money off the users. I have cell phone with Verizon and the life line fees I pay to them are also rediculous.
The utilities believe we users exist just to pay their high fees.
The PUC exists just to serve the utilities.
Our elected officials in Sacramento should look into this disgusting situation instead of sitting on their asses and blaming the other party and everyone else for these problems.
