Wyoming - Common Questions
My long distance or local telephone company was changed without my consent.
This is called "slamming." Under Wyoming Statute § 37-15-412, no person shall engage in any practice which has the effect of changing your telecommunications company if the change is willfully made without your knowledge and consent. Any change in your telecommunications company shall be effective only if it is in compliance with any method of authorization permitted under federal law, rule or regulation, except that no negative option marketing technique shall be permitted to be used. If your provider has been unlawfully changed, you are not liable for payment of any unauthorized charge.
My bill is unclear and I think I was charged for services I didn't order or consent to.
This is called "cramming." Under Wyoming Statute § 37-15-412, no person shall willfully charge or attempt to collect charges from you for any product or service not provided to you or not authorized by you. You are not liable for an amount charged for any unauthorized product provided or service initiated by a telecommunications company or its billing agent without your consent. You shall not be liable to pay for any product not delivered or service not furnished.
