Oklahoma
My long distance or local telephone company was changed without my consent.
Under Oklahoma Statutes, Title 17 § 1, any corporation, person or firm that switches the local or long distance telephone service provider of a customer without the consent of the customer may be fined by the Commission a sum not to exceed Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) per occurrence, as the Commission may deem proper after notice and opportunity for hearing. This means that an unauthorized switch is against the law and the company committing the act will be punished by fine.
