Michigan
My long distance or local telephone company was changed without my consent.
Under Michigan Law, it is against the law to change your telecommunications provider without oral authorization, written confirmation, confirmation through an independent third party, or other verification procedures subject to commission approval, confirming your intent to make a switch and that you have approved the specific details of the switch (Michigan Statute 484.2505).
My bill is unclear and I think I was charged for services I didn't order or consent to.
This is called "cramming." Under Michigan Law (Michigan Statute § 484.2305b), telecommunications providers must give you a clear and simple explanation of the terms and conditions of the services purchased by you including, but not limited to, a statement of all fees, charges, and taxes that are included on your monthly bill, both upon purchasing the service and at later dates upon request.
